But what do I know?

My climbing photography career began, like most, taking pictures of friends. I didn’t have the skills or knowledge to get into position by myself, and was often shooting from a top-rope with a very patient belayer. Over time, I learned more about equipment, systems, and techniques, to remove the technical barriers between me and capturing the images I had always imagined.

Learning the basics wasn't too hard, but it was the years of experimentation and refinement which made all the difference. These are the parts of the job which are difficult to learn from a book or youtube video.

I became adept working at height, sparking industry interest and leading me to work with professional athletes and on bigger commercial jobs. This experience expanded my portfolio, contacts, equipment, and opportunities, empowering me to now help others make bigger, faster strides towards their own climbing photography goals.

I want to share these years of experience with you, and inspire your creative journey into the world of climbing photography.
